[Level 48 -> 49]

Kael levelled up again, and once again, he didn’t care. He was busy slashing down his enemies, flames moved around him—

[Ember Cloak]

The skill burned multiple enemies around him and as he burned these enemies to death, none of them screamed.

It was... a nightmarish sight.

One that even Kael wouldn’t forget anytime soon, but for now, killing them and ending this nightmare took priority.

After freeing his side’s leaders, the change in the battlefield was quite clear, with the tribe leaders getting involved in the action with the rest of the tribes, the battlefield was stabilising.

The Alliance that was losing was now putting up a fight on somewhat equal terms, they were still weaker than the enemy, but the difference wasn’t that staggering.

The difference in numbers too, was slowly and steadily becoming better.

At this point, with the leaders free, the Alliance warriors fought in a more controlled manner as well. Not only had they gotten used to the enemy, since the enemy had the simplest of attack patterns, these trained soldiers began to understand these patterns and use them to stall more than one enemy.

Of course, it still wasn’t easy, but with Kael taking the lead, and the pace at which the numbers on the enemy side were falling, the Alliance troops were becoming more and more confident.

Kael noticed the change as well, he could see the impact his actions made and that only motivated him more.

And with that feeling, he looked around again.

This time, he didn’t look for leaders, this time he looked for things that could cause carnage without being stopped, things like him.

And very quickly, he had the answer.

Gruumak’s Dragon-Blooded Beast—

The Thunderspine Rauk.

The beast with six thick legs, a tail lined with bone ridges that shimmered with faint electric pulses.

It was one of the strongest ground beasts in the battlefield, the beast who was strong enough to crush multiple enemy soldiers under its feet.

Right now, however, it was fighting another beast, a cliff-rhino covered in old scars, horns that seemed like they were made by carving stone.

This one was equally strong, it belonged to the Ironblood Clan Leader, the leader Kael had just killed a few minutes ago.

Usually, such beasts would have dashed to protect their master, no matter what situation they were in, however, considering their state, considering how it was still attacking Gruumak’s Thunderspine Rauk, it was clear that the beast too, had lost its mind.

Kael looked at the two titans capable of causing mass destruction in the battlefield clashing against one another and he—

He decided to move.

Without waiting—

[Draconic Surge]

He charged forward, killing all the enemies in his way. Then, once he was here, once he stood right in front of the two titans, he put his sword back in his Sanctuary and he jumped right onto the enemy rhino.

The cliff rhino saw him, it tried to swat him away and splatter his body into paste like the bug he was, Kael didn’t react, at the speed this thing was moving, it would almost never reach him.

The Cliff Rhino’s speed was its weakest part, Kael overpowered it in that regard, but even Kael couldn’t deny the fact that the beast was strong—

Especially when it came to its defense stat, it was off the charts and was quite high.

It would be difficult for even Kael to take it out under normal circumstances—

Yes, under normal circumstances.

This however, wasn’t normal circumstances, right now, Kael had quite a few advantages. The enemy was right in front of him, the enemy’s mind wasn’t right, making it impossible for it to see through his tricks—

And with that advantage, Kael moved.

He stepped onto the wind platform Cirri created and jumped mid-air, dodging the incoming attack, then, he jumped again and again and again.

The beast’s claws chased him, ready to swat him, but it was too slow.

The speed at which Kael changed his direction in the air was far more complicated for it to follow, after all, Kael wasn’t flying, he was ’jumping’ in the air, so when he changed his direction, all he needed to do was jump in a different direction, without worrying about the airflow, or the direction he was flying in before, or anything else.

With that complicated move, once he made sure the beast’s claws couldn’t chase him, he appeared behind the beast’s neck.

The beast tried to block him, but at this time, the Thunderspine Rauk moved as well, roaring and clashing its horn with the enemy.

The Cliff Rhino tried to fight back, but now, Kael was standing behind him and he—

[Draconic Strike]

His arms changed, fiery red scales appeared as his body exploded with almost endless strength.

Then, with the enemy’s back fully open—

SLICE

He sliced it with his claws.

A several-inches-deep cut.

"RRROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRR!!!!"

The Cliff Rhino screamed in agony.

But Kael didn’t stop, he knew it wasn’t over, the flesh was too thick—

He needed to penetrate deeper.

So he did.

Slice Slice Slice Slice

He continued to slice through the beast’s neck, each attack tearing through its neck even further.

"RROOOOOOAAAAAARRRR!!"

It screamed, it tried to stop him, to swat his existence with its claws but just as it was about to smash Kael away—

[Skill: Resonant Guard]

A barrier appeared around him, protecting him from the attack while Kael continued to attack until finally—

The beast no longer screamed, its body slowed down, the cut was now halfway through its neck, its head hung low and...

Its eyes finally lost the last bit of light they had and it fell down with a thud.

Kael—

Who was inside the beast’s wound, completely covered in its blood, stayed silent for a moment, then, he slowly moved out, looked at the battlefield around him, at Gruumak’s Thunderspine Rauk and—

"HHEAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!"

He raised his draconic claws and cheered as loudly as he could.
