HHOOOOONKKKKKK
A loud horn was heard.
And the instant that happened, Kael and a few other Alliance Leaders smiled.
The reinforcements were here.
The army that Kael had left behind had returned.
For a moment, the Alliance Troops were horrified, they thought it was the enemy, enemy forces that hadn’t yet shown themselves.
But before they could despair, their eyes fell on the Cinder Step runners that came running through the broken Gate.
And—
"THEY ARE HERE!!
THE REINFORCEMENTS ARE HERE!!!"
No one knew who said it, but the instant it was said, it all changed.
"YEAAAAHHHHH!!!!"
The morale shot up far more than before. The Alliance troops that were only trying to defend all this while, keeping themselves alive from the enemy’s relentless attacks all this while, suddenly started attacking.
After the Cindersteps, Velmourn soldiers rushed in, the Stonefangs came behind them, roaring with their heavy weapons, they looked like they were annoyed that they missed the action. Borealis fighters pushed forward as well, so did the Rimewood, Sharppeak and Emberfolk.
They were exhausted, it was clear they had pushed themselves to get here this fast, but even when their bodies looked somewhat exhausted, their eyes were different.
Their eyes were shining.
They were already angry at the fact that their home was attacked when they were out, so they wanted to tear apart the bastards who attacked them.
So, without waiting for any commands, without looking at the enemy’s state, without focusing on the crazy smiles on their faces, how they completely ignored pain and did not fear death, the reinforcement troops rushed forward—
And they began cutting down the enemies from behind.
And with that—
The battlefield changed completely.
The enemy had already lost their momentum after everything Kael did, but with the new reinforcements, the Alliance Troops now outnumbered the enemies.
"FORWARD!!!"
Commands came from all over the place, every Unit moved accordingly, killing everything in their path.
Korvath watched everything and nodded with a satisfied look on his face. He too, jumped in and started cutting down as many enemies as he could.
"DO NOT LET A SINGLE ONE ESCAPE!! SEAL THE BREACH!!"
New commands were given.
This was no longer about survival, the Alliance Troops now aimed for annihilation, something Kael normally would have been against, but at this point, seeing the state the enemy was in—
He didn’t stop it.
He just decided to capture a few of these men, mostly for investigation and linking them with corruption, maybe use Aurelia’s help to get Verdant’s Omen. Kael wasn’t sure, but he would think of all that later, for now, he just needed a few alive.
As for the rest—
"KILL THEM ALL!!"
It seemed that the Alliance Troops had already made the decision.
The reinforcements crashed into the enemy from behind.
The enemies who had forced their way through the broken gate were suddenly trapped between two sides, the soldiers inside the Wall pushed from the front, while the new army pushed from outside.
The enemy’s mindless state, that had been their strength this entire time, suddenly became a weakness since they couldn’t take on enemies that came from two sides.
The difference was now too large, this time, in the Alliance’s favour.
An enemy rider tried to turn his beast around, but a Borealis beast rammed into him from the side and crushed both rider and mount against a large boulder.
A group of enemies tried to climb over the dead bodies, but Rimewood nets flew over them, dragged them down, and pinned them to the ground.
Stonefang warriors rushed in right after and finished them.
The battle had completely tilted, barely any of the Alliance forces were dying now, almost every single enemy soldier currently stood against at least two Alliance Soldiers.
Of course, with the exception of those who had been running around the battlefield, killing as much as they could, these Alliance Warriors moved alone and faced multiple opponents.
Kael saw everything play out.
Kael saw how they were moments away from complete victory.
But...
He did not relax.
Not even a little.
He stood near the center of the battlefield with a sword in hand, while his eyes moved everywhere.
’Inform me if you notice any movements, tell the ants to keep an eye on the sky as well.’
He spoke with a solemn look on his face.
’Yes, Father.’
Imperia nodded and Kael continued observing.
The enemy was losing, they were almost finished at this point, but even then, Kael felt uneasy. At this point, Kael could pretty much see the glaringly obvious pattern.
Every time things looked fine, something went wrong.
A trap.
A hidden enemy.
A new enemy.
A sudden attack from the sky.
There was a twist at the end of every major event in his life ever since he came to Nerathis, it was almost as if a sick writer was writing his story and enjoying his suffering.
So this time, Kael was prepared.
He could already see it, if these ’outsiders’ were linked to corruption, they weren’t simple, they fooled him once, he wasn’t going to let them fool him again.
He was prepared for whatever they would throw at him.
This was also the reason he hadn’t used Ascendent of the Ancients till now, even though that would have saved quite a few lives.
He was saving it for the right moment.
And even right now, he didn’t just watch, he had Imperia and Cirri for that—
He continued moving.
He continued cutting down his enemies.
Slice Slice Slice Slice
One after the other, he continued slicing them apart.
[CE +1180]
[CE +940]
[CE +2310]
The numbers kept appearing in front of him, he kept killing more.
[CE +1640]
[CE +2050]
[CE +1320]
The number of enemies was falling down drastically, so much that the moment the realisation sunk in, the moment the Alliance troops saw that the nightmare was over, that they had survived—
They collapsed.
Their weapons fell down, they went down to their knees, their exhausted bodies didn’t move.
The reinforcements took over, the enemy numbers were falling at an impossible rate, some Alliance soldiers cried at that sight, some laughed.
It was over...
It really was over...
Kael still didn’t stop, he continued killing.
Draconic Strike, Roar of Dominion, Ember Cloak, Draconic Surge, Genesis Step, Resonance Guard, Ancient Pulse—
He continued to spam every single one of these abilities the moment the cooldown ended.
[CE +1760]
[CE +2540]
And finally—
[Level 49 -> 50]
Kael levelled up.
Again, he didn’t care, he just raised his blood-covered face and searched for more enemies to kill but...
He didn’t find any.
’Father.’
Imperia called out.
’It is over.
Ten enemies have been captured alive—
The rest have been killed.’
The Ant reported.
The battle truly was over.
